In today’s entry, we will talk about how motorcycle transformations can be a tribute to the culture and history of a country. In particular, we will focus on the construction of a unique motorcycle that pays homage to the legendary gauchos of Argentina.

Transforming a Ducati 749 into a tribute to the gauchos

Sebastian Achaval, motorcycle builder and sunglasses entrepreneur from Argentina, decided to create a motorcycle that captured the spirit of his homeland and the gauchos, who were known for being skilled riders and craftsmen in leather, wood, and metal. To achieve this, he took a 2003 Ducati 749 as a base and transformed it into a work of art called “Arriera”, featuring handcrafted details in wood, leather, and metal.

Improvements and changes to the motorcycle

Sebastian began his project by improving various aspects of the motorcycle, such as the riding position and style. To do this, he disassembled the motorcycle completely and made changes to the structure, such as creating a custom-made subframe and modifying the exhaust system. In addition, he upgraded the brakes with modern Brembo components and replaced the original front fork with a Showa one.

Regarding customization of electronic components, Sebastian couldn’t find handlebar switches that suited his needs, so he decided to make them himself. He also redesigned the electrical system to install a Motogadget speedometer and other lighting components, with the help of an experienced Ducati mechanic.

Wood and leather details honoring the gauchos

To pay tribute to the gauchos, it was necessary to include elements of wood and leather in the motorcycle. With his basic woodworking knowledge, Sebastian set out to handcraft wooden parts for the seat section, speedometer, and fairing, sometimes requiring up to 100 attempts to achieve perfection. The end result is a motorcycle that not only stands out for its beauty and unique details but also pays homage to Argentine culture and history.

In conclusion, the transformation of this Ducati 749 into a tribute to the gauchos demonstrates how motorcycles can be more than just vehicles and become a true expression of a country’s identity and pride. Whether through the choice of motorcycle accessories or the design and construction itself, each detail counts in creating a unique and special motorcycle.
